Certs that don't require experience

I've been in the IT field for more than five years, have become MCP and will continue pursuing MCSE; however, I find the security field extremely interesting. I'd like to pursue the security field more. Any suggestions? I do understand that to take the CISSP exam, one must have at least three years of experience in the security field.

There are lots of ways to get yourself started while you build your experience base to qualify for that CISSP requirement. If you check out my column, Revisiting the Security Certification Landscape, you'll find pointers to more information about some nice entry-level certs including those from BrainBench, ISC-squared's SCCP, the Prosoft CIW Security Professional exam and the ICSA certification. All of these may be earned with less than three years of experience, so check them out!
