Where can I find a serious comparison of antivirus programs?

A good question... but the answer is not so easy, as it all depends on what you are looking for in a comparison. There are so many features you could consider (I identified more than 600 in the first edition of my book) that you really need to define your comparison criteria.
If you want to know about virus detection rates, check out www.av-test.org, for example. If you want to know more about usability features, PC World does some reasonable tests. Avoid the CNET tests -- they used some bogus malware and unreliable criteria in their last few ventures into this area.
