Firewall recommendation for a Westell modem

I have an SWBell ADSL connection using a Westell model 516 modem. I had dial-up and used ZoneAlarm firewall. It does not work with the Westell. I tried Tiny firewall from TinySoft.com, and it does not work either. These are two of the best that I know of. Do you have another firewall the WILL work to recommend? I don't want to have my PC compromised by some jerk.

I have not used the SWBell ADSL, so I can't guarantee anything. I'm surprised that ZoneAlarm doesn't work. You probably just don't have it configured properly. With ADSL you should have been assigned an IP number, or if using DHCP, and IP range that your specific IP will come from. Be sure that is configured for access in ZoneAlarm. If it is not, you won't be able to access anything. That is a very common mistake.

I prefer the hardware firewalls such as the ones made by Linksys and NetGear.

I use the Linksys DSL/CableModem Router/Firewall with my cable modem access and am quite happy with it. I have not used DSL since I'm too far from my central office, so I can't vouch for how well it works. I am told that the NetGear product works equally well.
