Q

How an IT sales pro should become CISSP certified

I'm an IT security sales pro and have been in the industry for nearly three years. I'd like to get a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification. Is this open to IT sales pros?

The CISSP requires three years of hands-on, information-security experience, so unless you've been reasonably technical in your sales job you may have to do some fast talking to meet that requirement. That said, if you can take and pass the exam, you should certainly be entitled to carry the certification. Visit http://www.isc2.org for more information on CISSP requirements; if in doubt, call or e-mail the ISC-squared. I've done so several times myself and found their phone staff to be polite, quick and very well informed.
