Q

How to limit spyware

I am concerned with the amount of adware and spyware that is getting on to my user's PCs. I use spy software and...

try to keep them clean, but this is a daunting task. The PCs are scattered over a large area of southern California and have very slow network connections for the most part. I tried pop-up blockers, but these conflict with legitimate pop-ups such as would occur when Adobe reader brings up a file to print. Any ideas on restricting the users without stopping legitimate Web browsing? You should consider implementing a HOSTS file to block unwanted adware and spyware. A lot of folks have successfully implemented this solution from MVPS.org.

It includes most major parasites, hijackers and unwanted search engines and it's easy to update from a central location.
