Q

Security of downloaded files

I have a question regarding file attachment/download over SSL.

Say we make a connection with a fully enabled Web site. In one of the pages we have the facility to download files to a local machine (for example, Save feature in Hotmail). My question is, what is the security of this downloaded file? Is SSL applicable here, and is privacy, integrity assured for this file? The same could be asked for file uploads (attach file facility in Hotmail).

As long as the file transfer is over the SSL connection, the transfer will be protected over the Internet from server to client.
