Should I choose a Lotus Notes or infosec career path?

I read your response to the 53-year-old security person who wanted to jump-start his career and was hoping you might be able to help me, too. I have been give the chance to pick between two different career paths -- one in security or one in Lotus Notes. What I would like to know is which of the two has a better job outlook for the future?
In general the market for security professionals is bigger and more robust than that for Lotus notes (both in terms of market size and in terms of opportunity and growth possibilities). That said, a lot will depend on where you live and what the local opportunities are like. If you don't have a strong preference and are looking for the path with the longest lifespan or best career opportunities, security is the way to go. But if you prefer doing messaging stuff to doing security stuff (and there is some overlap between the two areas to consider as well) then it might still make more sense to go the Lotus Notes route rather than the security route.
