Of course it does! Experience is the single most important factor in obtaining a job, especially relevant experience. In fact, most employers would rather hire an uncertified person with lots of hands-on experience than a certified person with no experience. Likewise, experience comes in handy when seeking certifications, because it will often teach you the skills and interfaces that certifications seek to test you on.
