Q

The length of public and private keys

What is the typical length of a public and private key, and what is the status of the regulations regarding the key length?

In a public key system, 1024 is considered strong and 2048 military strength.

Regulations vary from country to country and use. For example, a U.S. citizen may use any size keys. However, the Commerce Department regulates products U.S. companies sell overseas.
