Q

What is a land attack?

What is a land attack? How can I stop one?

A land attack is a remote denial-of-service (DOS) attack caused by sending a packet to a machine with the source host/port the same as the destination host/port. This is a rather old attack and current patches should stop them for most systems. Please see the CERT advisory for more information on the attack, available patches and other solutions.
