Can you direct me towards Windows 2000 free downloads for auditing a network and
IP/network packets?

I do not know of any freeware tools for Windows 2000 that allow you to audit
or collect stats on IP network packets. I did find a listing for Socket
Workbench 3.1, which might do what you are looking for. The download is available at http://www.tucows.com/preview/216126.html.
This is an evaluation copy, and the real product is not free. I have not
used the product and make no claim as to how good it is or is not.
If you are looking to audit a network, I would suggest you use a Linux box
to do that. There are many good tools available for Linux. A good place to
start your search for any Linux tool is the GNU Web site.
