QUESTION POSED ON: 13 April 2001
In terms of securing e-commerce applications on trusted Web servers, do
you know anything about Hewlett Packard's Virtual Vault? Apparently it's been on the market for five years and is yet to be compromised. It stems from the military Compartmented Mode Workstation.

VV from HP is fine. It has been around for a while. You probably have not
heard much about it because HP is not a security company, so it is just one of many products vying for advertising and marketing dollars in HP.
Another product to consider and test is WatchGuard's Serverlock. [Disclosure: I am on an advisory council for WatchGuard Technologies.]
