Check Point security certifications are great for those who work
(or seek to work) at businesses or organizations that employ Check
Point products as part of their infrastructure. The company's recent
financial performance
argues that their market share is growing and expanding quite nicely.
There'll still quite a bit behind Cisco in terms of marketshare and
infrastructure share, however.
If you obtain Check Point certification, it should indeed help you
find work at a Check Point facility of some kind. Recent studies on
security certification (www.footepartners.com) indicate that they
have a positive effect on income and are some of the most valuable
credentials in the marketplace right now. And while I don't see
Check Point's credentials mentioned explicitly in their top security
certs, it's not unreasonable to think that they could enhance your
employability and earnings potential.
I'd also recommend obtaining a vendor-neutral security cert as
well (such as the TICSA, GIAC, CISSP, etc.) just to make sure you
can appeal to the broadest possible audience of employers.
