The Nimda worm exploits vulnerabilities in Microsoft Internet Information
Server and Internet Explorer. However, it can also cause some
degradation on a Unix box as it ties up bandwidth while looking to see if
that box is susceptible.
As to your second question, contrary to myths in the Unix world, there
are many viruses which affect Unix. In fact, the famous research paper
on computer viruses by Fred Cohen was based on Unix viruses. A quick
search on any online Virus Encyclopedia should turn up enough
evidence to eliminate this myth.
