QUESTION POSED ON: 22 January 2004
Where can I find a serious comparison of antivirus programs?

>
This is a rapidly evolving area. However, I find the information maintained at www.av-test.org to be quite comprehensive. The site conducts its own tests of various antivirus products, and also includes a list of links to other publications that have tested the products. Although a good deal of the content is in German, there is also an English home page and translations of all of their reports. Another good resource is at antivirus.about.com. In particular, check out their 2003 Virus Software Review, which narrows down the best of 31 different products.
