Neal O'Farrell, CEO, Hackademia
Neal O'Farrell has been involved in information security for nearly 20
years and was elected chair of the first Cybercrime on Wall
Street Conference. He has written more than one hundred articles and
three books, appearing in publications as diverse as BusinessWeek,
Information Week, NetWorker and Wireless Systems Design, and has been
invited to speak at numerous conferences, including the CSI Annual
Conference and Black Hat Briefings.
Neal was founder and CEO of security training firm Hackademia Inc., and
is also Technical Editor of Hack Proofing Your Wireless Network, the
latest in the Hack Proofing series of security guides from Syngress
Publishing.
In 1989 he co-hosted with IBM one of Europe's first network security
conferences and later helped Nokia incorporate security into their
first generation of cellular telephones. As the head of European crypto
firm Intrepid, Neal lead the development of some of the world's most
advanced voice, data and fax encryption systems, including MilCode, a
European rival of the STU 3, the U.S. Government Secure Telephone Unit.
Until recently Neal was Director of Content for firewall maker Zone
Labs, where his duties included writing the company's Web content,
marketing materials and white papers. He was also editor of their
monthly security newsletter, distributed to three million computer users in
120 countries. |
