Business Layers announced eProvision 3.0, the next version of its provisioning software. The software allows administrators to assign system resources and privileges to users, including employees, contractors and business partners. IT managers may also enforce security policy through the software. New features in version 3.0 include dynamic provisioning, distributed security, ePM Xpress (a connector "factory") and simplified deployment and maintenance tools. EProvision 3.0 will be available in June.
HR company uses Sanctum's application protection
Sanctum, Inc., announced that Adecco SA, a staffing and recruiting organization, has implemented Sanctum's AppShield Web application firewall. The Adecco network connects 700,000 business associates with clients every day. AppShield will protect its e-commerce transactions, employee training and private data from unauthorized access. AppShield is not signature-based. It intelligently identifies requests made of an e-business site and permits only those that enforce the Web and business logic of the site.
TrendMicro announces content scanner
Antivirus leader TrendMicro announced the availability of InterScan VirusWall 3.6 Content Scanning Protocol for NetScreen 100 for medium and large enterprises and NetScreen 500 for large enterprises and service providers. Features of version 3.6 include real-time virus detection at the gateway: real-time virus detection and clean-up for all SMTP, HTTP and FTP Internet traffic at the gateway. It also blocks malicious mobile code (Java and ActiveX) at the gateway and configures remotely using a Web browser or locally via Windows interface.
Trend Micro announces interoperability with IBM NAS systems
Trend Micro announced last week that its ServerProtect antivirus product has completed interoperability testing with IBM's TotalStorage Network Attached Storage (NAS) 200, 300, and 300G series servers. Trend Micro's ServerProtect provides network antivirus scanning for file servers running Windows 2000, Windows NT and Novell NetWare. ServerProtect is managed through a Web-based or Windows console. ServerProtect provides centralized virus scanning, pattern updates, event reporting and antivirus configuration. ServerProtect can be installed directly to the NAS device.
RedSiren acquires Secure Network Group
Security outsourcer RedSiren Technologies announced last week that it signed a letter of intent to purchase Secure Network Group, a company that designs, builds, manages and monitors information security systems and networks for more than 50 American enterprises. Secure Network Group services included network security monitoring, managed security services and expert consulting and support. RedSiren offers information security services, security awareness training and technology offerings for global Fortune 1000 companies and mid-tier enterprises.
Ecora rolls out service provider certification program
Auditing and security management software developer Ecora Software announced its new Ecora Certified Service Provider (ECSP) program for companies and consultants that run or support Cisco, Lotus, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle and Solaris. All these technologies are supported by Ecora's Configuration Auditor. Ecora will open the doors for ECSPs to offer their services to Ecora customers. ECSPs must complete a one-day certification course, be certified in the technology they support and provide technical assistance in closing sales for Ecora. ECSPs will earn 30% commission for their involvement.
KaVaDo updates its application protection software
KaVaDo announced this week the next version of its application security software, InterDo Version 2.5. The new version includes support for KaVaDo?s AutoPolicy technology, allowing its vulnerability scanner, ScanDo, to create or update InterDo's protection policy. ScanDo mimics hacker techniques as its scans applications for flaws. It then sends its information to InterDo, which then updates its policy. KaVaDo protects against events and behaviors that do not follow an application?s designed purpose. InterDo also prevents against specific web application attack categories database sabotage, buffer overflows, cookie poisoning, etc.), without requiring new updates or signatures.
Netegrity, nCipher get together
Netegrity and nCipher announced a deal to integrate nCipher's hardware-based encryption products with Netegrity's access control software, SiteMinder. Enterprises using this combined product can secure cryptographic keys from physical attack and malicious use.
AtStake hosting roundtables on application security
Security service provider @Stake announced a series of roundtable on application security dubbed "Applications Security: Protecting the Business Logic." The roundtables target senior executives cost-effectively address the challenges of purchasing, developing and maintaining business applications. The roundtables are scheduled for June 6 in Seattle, Wa at the Sheraton Seattle Hotel & Towers (8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.); June 13 in San Jose, Calif., at the Fairmont Hotel from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; and June 19 in Cary, N.C. at the Prestonwood Country Club from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
