Army goes with RSA smart card software

RSA Security announced that the U.S. Army will use RSA SecurID Passage smart card software to sign and encrypt e-mail, for cryptographic network logon and client authentication to Web sites. SecurID Passage is a standards-based middleware platform that enables the use of CAC cards to secure user workstations. The card will contain a user's private keys to be used for secure authentication to computer systems within a public key infrastructure (PKI) to extend these services to other applications such as VPN, remote access and work flow.

Also recently, RSA Security announced it will support BEA's WebLogic Security Framework within the RSA ClearTrust Web access management solution. ClearTrust software integrates with BEA WebLogic to share user names and access privileges in order to provide single-sign-on to users accessing corporate portals, applications servers and other protected Web resources. RSA ClearTrust software's utilization of the new pluggable WebLogic Security Framework helps customers to achieve very granular security down to the method-level, extending beyond the base security capabilities in WebLogic Server.
