ISS addresses IPv6 security issues

Internet Security Systems announced enhancements to its ISS Dynamic Threat Protection platform that address Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6), the successor to IPv4. Two components of the platform, RealSecure Network 7.0 intrusion protection aplicaiton and Proventia protection appliances, support IPv6 standards and are able to decode and inspect all supported IPv4 protocols and attacks or misuse even if buried in IPv6. They also inspect IPv6 encapsulated in either static or 6-to-4 auto Simple Internet Transition (SIT) tunnels. ISS points out that network administrators may be behind in securing IPv6 attacks, something that hackers are exploiting. IPv6 production networks already exist in Europe and Asia.
CorePROTECT releases restoration tool
CorePROTECT launched this week CoreRESTORE, its new hardware-based restoration software that restores computers with one reboot. It recovers damaged operating systems, configuration files, applications and data that may have fallen victim to a virus attack or intrusion. CoreRESTORE's patented processor operates independently of a computer's motherboard making it invisible to hackers or virus writers, making it invulnerable to attack.
IPS appliance to debut in Big Easy
VSecure Technologies Inc. will provide details on its new NetProtect Enterprise LG1000 Gigabit Intrusion Prevention Appliance at NetSec 03 New Orleans this month. The LG1000 complements VSecure's existing LG10 and LG100 appliances to provide powerful IPS capabilities for organizations and networks of all sizes. VSecure uses Digital Signal Processing and Fuzzy Logic to eliminate the need for attack signatures and frequent updating.
PatchLink Update 5.0 now available
PatchLink Corp. announced the availability of PatchLink Update 5.0, the latest version of their enterprise patch management tool. PatchLink Update 5.0 provides customers with Windows 2003 compatibility, graphical reporting, patch assessment compliancy capabilities and role-based administration. Customers will able to purchase PatchLink Update as of June 30.
Sanctum unveils AppScan DE channel program
Sanctum, Inc. announced a channel program to advance their sales and distribution of AppScan Developer Edition (DE) software. AppScan DE integrates into Microsoft Visual Studio .NET environment and enables automated security testing during real-time application development. AppScan DE can test any application built with any one of the Visual Studio languages and provides detailed reports of each those tests and responses. Sanctum is offering a lower, promotional price of AppScan DE through Aug. 1.
Trend Micro scuttles spam on Windows
Trend Micro announced that its Spam Prevention Service is available for Microsoft Windows. The Trend Micro spam software solution blocks spam e-mail at the gateway using filtering rules from Postini, Inc. Trend Micro Spam Prevention Service is also available for Solaris.
Neoteris products meet TruSecure application security evaluation standards; new partner program
Neoteris Inc. announced that its Instant Virtual Extranet (IVE) products have passed TruSecure Corporation's Application Security Review, a security audit. This evaluation comprised a review of application security controls, mapping of their controls against TruSecure Essential Practices for Applications and recommendations for security improvement. The Neoteris Access Series appliances, part of the IVE platform, provide customers with SSL VPN via any Web browser without the need of installing software.
Neoteris also announced that NetIQ Corp., a systems and security management vendor, has joined the Neoteris Technology Partner Program. Neoteris is a secure application access vendor. The relationship between Neoteris and NetIQ ensures interoperability and support for joint customers. Customers will now be able to analyze data from Neoteris audit and usage logs through NetIQ reports for SSL-based access deployments. Administrators will use the log information to monitor how employees, partners and customers access and use applications and will delivering an audit trail of activity.
SonicWALL launches Content Filtering Service 2.0
SonicWALL released Content Filter Service (CFS) 2.0, its updated content filtering subscription service. CFS 2.0 uses a dynamic, URL database along with their rating and caching architecture to administer their filtering rules such as time of day blocking, restricted access depending on user and their location and specific URL restriction. By providing a Web-based interface, IT personnel can manage CFS 2.0 over regular or wireless LAN.
RSA Security, Precise Biometrics team up
RSA Security announced a strategic partnership with Precise Biometrics to provide improved security authentication solutions. Under this agreement, RSA Security will integrate Precise Biometrics' Precise BioMatch fingerprint authentication solution with its SecureID Passage smart card software and the SecurID USB Token. This collaboration will provide organizations with either a two or three-factor authentication biometric, smart card solution. RSA Security plans to have this solution available in the second half of 2003.
