F5 Networks acquires uRoam for $25 million
F5 Networks announced that it acquired the assets of uRoam, a remote access SSL-VPN solution provider, for $25 million in cash. Most of uRoam's employees, including founders, development and sales, have been hired as well by F5 Networks. Under the acquisition terms, F5 Networks will retain full rights over uRoam's technology including their FirePass servers. F5 Networks develops network traffic management software for enterprises and service providers. The products enable the optimization of applications or Web services, providing secure and predictable delivery of application traffic in an unpredictable environment.

Sophos unveils new MailMonitor version for Exchange
Sophos announced a new version of its MailMonitor software for Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003 servers. MailMonitor version will scan Exchange servers for worms, viruses and other malicious code arriving via e-mail. MailMonitor enables administrators to monitor all incoming e-mail and delete, quarantine or disinfect any infected mail.

Fiberlink, Neoteris announce partnership
Fiberlink Communications announced a partnership with Neoteris to integrate its application-layer gateway technology with Fiberlink's remote-access platform. This partnership will provide customers with an SSL-based, remote access product for connecting to an organization's network via a Web browser. Under the terms of this agreement, Fiberlink will offer Neoteris' Access Series product family as a managed services option.
