Industry Notebook: ISS guarantees new service

Internet Security Services (ISS) is offering a money-back guarantee as part of its Managed Protection Services, leading off this edition of Industry Notebook. Also included are items from NetScreen, Check Point, IPLocks and Teros.

ISS offers money-back guarantee

Internet Security Systems Inc. recently announced Managed Protection Services, security services that include a money-back guaranteed protection warranty. Under this warranty, ISS will refund customers $50,000 if a security breach occurs that is found on their X-Force Certified Attack List. Managed Protection Services is based on their Proventia Unified Protection products, which provides antispam, antivirus, intrusion detection and firewall protection in one appliance.

NetScreen introduces new security appliances

Network security vendor NetScreen Technologies announced that it has added the NetScreen-Hardware Security Client and the NetScreen-5GT Extended to its entry-level product line. The NetScreen-Hardware Security Client provides a deep inspection firewall, VPN capabilities and antivirus support for up to five users and two tunnels. The NetScreen-5GT Extended is based on the 5GT platform and offers organizations increased reliability and additional network segmentation capabilities including a DMZ for WLANs, NetScreen said. Both products will be available this month.

Check Point unveils new gateway line

Check Point Technologies unveiled Check Point InterSpect, a new line of internal security gateway products for protecting internal networks and applications. The InterSpect product is a dedicated appliance that filters internal content for malicious code or attacks and enables network segmentation to restrict access to certain parts of the network. Some of the new features include the Intelligent Worm Defender, quarantine capabilities for suspect computers, LAN protocol protection and proactive defenses again vulnerabilities. Pricing begins at $9,000 for the three InterSpect models.

IPLocks announces Database Security Audit System Version 3.2

IPLocks announced the IPLocks Database Security Audit System (IPLocks-DSAS) for automating the monitoring and assessing of transaction-level data integrity to reduce the chance of theft. Some key features of the IPLocks-DSAS inlcude configuration vulnerability assessment, monitoring of access and role changes, content filtering, structural changes alerts, user behavior monitoring and a report manager.

Teros announces new application gateway appliance

Teros announced the Teros 200, the latest addition to their application gateway appliances. The Teros 200 provides organizations with provides non-stop filtering and protection for critical Web applications that receive high volume. According to Teros the Teros 200 protects twice as many Web servers and enforces application security two times faster than the Teros 100. The Teros 200 is a hardened security appliance that sits on the data path to monitor and filter Web traffic. Pricing begins at $45,000 and is available immediately.
