Industry Notebook: Citadel Security Software fortifies vulnerability management

Citadel Security Software releases Hercules 3.0
Citadel Security Software Inc., a vulnerability management and policy enforcement solutions provider based in Dallas, said its Hercules 3.0 vulnerability management solution will be available at the end of May. Hercules features a new host-based quarantine remediation solution and ConnectGuard, which quarantines all traffic from remote and local machines reconnecting to the network. It also checks for security policy compliance and performs remediation on out-of-compliance machines before they are allowed to connect. Akonix releases L7 Enterprise version 3.0
Akonix Systems Inc., a San Diego-based provider of business solutions for secure, managed and integrated multi-network enterprise instant messaging, released L7 Enterprise version 3.0, featuring an automatically updated enterprise Spim and Malware Filter to protect networks from the latest IM-borne attacks. L7 v3.0 protects networks and users from viruses, worms and other malware spread through IM. ArticSoft announces Central Administration
ArticSoft, a Glenwood, Md.-based provider of encryption and digital software, announced a new solution, Central Administration. Central Administration complements ArticSoft's FileAssurity OpenPGP product line by providing encryption controls and capabilities. New features include group keys, key management, information recovery from encrypted files for e-mails and digital identity management. Pricing starts at $179 per client.

BMC Software, Consul partner on audit, regulatory capabilities for CONTROL-SA
BMC Software, a Houston-based provider of enterprise management solutions, announced updates to its CONTROL-SA, particularly integrating technology from InSight by Herndon, Va.-based Consul to meet the growing demands of audit and regulatory requirements. InSight provides administrative and auditing tools (like detailed reports and events alerts) to help organizations ensure their security event and policy management services are meeting regulatory guidelines. Under this agreement, BMC will resell CONTROL-SA with InSight worldwide and provide necessary customer support.

Proofpoint and F-Secure partner to better secure messaging
Cupertino, Calif.-based Proofpoint's antispam and antivirus Proofpoint Protection Server and P-Series appliance will now include F-Secure's gateway antivirus solutions to better detect malicious code moving in and out of enterprise e-mail systems. The partnership enhances capabilities of Proofpoint's MLX technology, which currently examines more than 50,000 attributes to detect spam, according to the company. F-Secure, best known for its antivirus solutions, is based out of Helsinki, Finland.

FortiGuard Web Filtering expands Fortinet's portfolio
Fortinet, makers of ASIC-powered, network-based firewall systems, in Q2 will introduce the all-new FortiGuard Web Filtering service to enable organizations to safeguard against unauthorized Web content. FortiGuard will prevent employees from accessing suspicious Web sites based on a constantly updated URL database now 5-million-plus strong and arranged in 80 different categories. An "In-the-Cloud" delivery method means databases are host-based worldwide, rather than stored on local servers. URL ratings also are cached to reduce latency.

Fortinet, based out of Sunnyvale, Calif., plans to offer a 14-day trial of the new service once it's released. Pricing is available through Fortinet channel partners.

Cyber-Ark Software's Vault Connectors now available
Cyber-Ark Software, Inc., a Dedham, Mass.-based secure enterprise connection provider, announced the immediate availability of Vault Connectors for its Inter-business Vault. With the help of Vault Connectors, Inter-business Vault's Instant WAN allows for secure connections between existing information systems over the Internet. Thus, an enterprise is able to connect to its partners, sub-contractors and customers as if they have deployed a traditional WAN, eliminating the need to use proprietary file transfer, file sharing and e-mail security solutions.
