IT administrators can expect eight security bulletins from Microsoft Tuesday, addressing flaws in Windows, Visual Studio and Microsoft Office. Six of those updates will fix critical problems.

According to the advance bulletin Microsoft released Thursday:

  • Three updates will address flaws in Windows, some of which are critical. The updates will be available via the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and Enterprise Scan Tool, and some of the fixes will require a restart.
  • One "important" update will address issues with Windows and Visual Studio. The updates will be available via the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and Enterprise Scan Tool and the fixes will require a restart.
  • One "important" update will affect Windows and Microsoft Office. The updates will be available via the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and will require a restart.
  • Three updates, some of them critical, will affect Microsoft Office. The updates will be available via the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and could require a restart.

As it does every month, Microsoft will also update its Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool and will offer a Webcast the next day at 11 a.m. Pacific Time so customers can ask questions about the patches.
