Microsoft on Thursday said it expects to release seven critical updates addressing flaws in Microsoft Windows, Internet Explorer and Office when it releases its monthly patch update next Tuesday.

The vulnerabilities affect users of Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. The flaws were rated critical since they could be exploited remotely, the software giant said in an advance bulletin on its TechNet site.

Microsoft rated five updates as important, which typically describes flaws attackers could exploit to compromise the confidentiality, integrity or availability of user data or the integrity or availability of processing resources.

Other flaws repaired in the upcoming batch of updates are issues with Microsoft Active Directory, Windows Server and Vistual Basic 6.0.

Microsoft updates last month addressed flaws in Windows TCP/IP and LSASS. Two security bulletins affected various versions of the operating system, including Windows XP SP2 and Vista.

The software maker also released seven patch bulletins for its December 2007 security update.
