Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Barracuda Networks said it would integrate Yosemite Backup technology in its Barracuda Backup Service to support Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL and Microsoft Windows state backup. Barracuda got into the backup and recovery business in November with the acquisition of Bitleap.

Barracuda Networks said it would also continue to sell and support Yosemite's Backup and FileKeeper software. The Barracuda Backup Service with Yosemite Backup serves the small and midsize business market. It will be available to customers at no additional charge, Barracuda said.

In addition, the integration supports the backup and restore of Microsoft Windows system state including the Windows registry and "Bare Metal" restores when used with locally attached removable media storage.

The backup service combines an onsite appliance with a monthly subscription that replicates data to two offsite locations. The appliance provides full local backup of current and historical data and network-based local restores. The server also de-duplicates data at the origin to minimize the unnecessary storage of the same file. It transfers files offsite using compression and encryption, Barracuda said.
