Who's Who in Infosec: Rhonda MacLean

Who's Who in Infosec is an ongoing series featuring profiles of security professionals and their contributions to the industry.


Rhonda E. MacLean is senior vice president and director of corporate information security for Bank of America. MacLean joined Bank of America in 1996 as the director of corporate information security and is responsible for providing global leadership for information security policy, procedures, risk management, security technology implementation, cyber forensics and general information security awareness. In addition, MacLean is responsible for enterprise business continuity planning and the company's regional recovery centers.

In May 2002, the Department of the Treasury appointed MacLean as the private sector's coordinator for the financial services industry public/private paternship on critical infrastructure protection and homeland security. MacLean will act in concert with the Treasury's private sector liaison to draw together industry initiatives related to critical infrastructure protection and homeland security. In addition, she was elected to the board of directors of the Partnership for Critial Infrastructure Security (PCIS), which brings together leaders across multiple critical sectors.

MacLean is active in a number of information security and business continuity assocations. She is a member of the board of advisors for the University of North Carolina -- Charlotte College of Information Technology. Under her leadership, Bank of America was a founding member of the Financial Services Information Security Analysis Center (FS/ISAC) and serves as an advisor to the board of directors. She is a member of the International Institute of Information Integrity (I4) and served as vice chairman of the Members Advisory Committee. Previously, she served as chairperson of the Security Risk Assessment Executive Board and was elected member of the Security Laboratory Governance Board for the Banking Industry Technology Secretariat. Maclean previously served as a technical advisor for the President's National Security Telecommunications Advisory Committee's Financial Services Risk Assessing Report released in 1997.

Rhonda MacLean has over 20-years experience in the data processing industry with primary emphasis in the last 11 years in information security.
