Juniper UAC to deliver Shavlik patch management technology |

Juniper Networks' Unified Access Control (UAC) management software will contain patch management tools from Shavlik Technologies LLC as part of an agreement the two companies announced Thursday.
Roseville, Minn.-based Shavlik said that Juniper will offer the security scanning capabilities of Shavlik NetChk Protect as part of Juniper UAC. Shavlik said the offering is a step toward out-of-the-box security assessment capabilities.
"Accurately assessing patch levels is a critical component to ensuring system health before allowing access to networks and applications," Sanjay Beri, vice president of access solutions at Juniper Networks, said in a statement.
Juniper's UAC 2.1 software release, which includes the integrated Shavlik NetChk Protect assessment capabilities, should be available by month's end, the companies said. Juniper said its UAC 2.1 software is available for download free of charge to UAC customers with active maintenance contracts.
"Furthermore, this integration will enable Juniper's UAC customers and partners to try out our complete Shavlik NetChk Protect solution in an effort to further simplify and automate the critical process of remediating non-compliant endpoint devices," Shavlik CEO Mark Shavlik said in a statement.
