Applied product hits the Strip
Applied Biometrics Products Inc. will puts its fingerprint verification technology, called Kryptic, on display at the Visteon Corp.'s booth at the Consumer Electronics Show beginning Saturday in Las Vegas. Applied officials tout Kryptic as providing an increased level of security over keys that can be transferred. The technology also allows for management of users and their system access. Applied Biometrics Products boasts a portable design with low power demands. It is used in a number of consumer and enterprise applications and can be customized to work with most interfaces and power requirements.

Askey in compliance thanks to RSA
RSA Security, based in Bedford, Mass., announces its BSafer(R) Cert-C software will secure Askey Computer Corp., cable modem equipment supplier. The RSA product will aid Askey comply with the Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) 1.1 security standard for its cable modem hardware. Cert-C will secure online data transmissions made over Askey products.

VeriSign certifies Identix transaction management security product
Biometric authentication, security and identifcation solution provider Identix announces a partnership with digital certificate provider VeriSign to integrate VeriSign certificates into Identix's itrust transaction management security product. VeriSign has made a $2 million commitment to the partnership. Itrust secures wired and wireless e- and mobile-commerce transaction. The partnership guarantees heightened authentication requirements through a combination of digital certificates and biometrics. Itrust ties specific individuals to specific transactions, increasing the level of trust between enterprise and customer. The two companies say the partnership will save enterprises billions of dollars in reduced fraudulent activity. In turn, Identix will provide biometric solutions to VeriSign, including authentication, validation and security products and services.
