Telecommuting. Is it right for you? For: Jan 15 - 29 2001
Sure, telecommuting sounds great. But maintaining relationships with the members of your development team when you're sitting at home in your jammies is not that easy a task. It takes an understanding of who you are and how you interact with both colleagues and family to make telecommuting work. Just like ice cream, telecommuting comes in a variety of flavors. Some telecommuters use their home as their office, rarely going into their company, while others have preset days that they work from home and still others telecommute only on an occasional day here and there. No matter where you are on the continuum, there are personal issues that need to be looked at. You want to make telecommuting as successful and productive as it can be. Last month our Spotlight focused on business' concerns regarding telecommuting. In this Spotlight, we gathered sites and articles that cover the basics of what you need to be aware of when judging whether you're a candidate for telecommuting.
