Our primary need is for Log Management, 2ndary is SIEM. We have a huge number of logs to manage, and our current solution changed hands and has gotten more expensive. We may end up sticking with them, though, as they have been a good performer.

Our IT management feels the cost of the 'Insurance' of a SIEM is too high and that checking the logs once a month, MS Forefront/System Center along with our Sonicwall firewalls is totally sufficient for our North American offices. We are world wide with tunnels to each strategic office in multiple countries. I've been pushing for SIEM for years, but get recognized as a doomsayer even though I have been involved with SANS for over ten years with respect to security. Russian roulette, apathetic and irresponsible!
