In 2013, Cisco network security product strategy to key on integration

SAN FRANCISCO -- Cisco Systems Inc.'s information security product strategy has faced criticism in recent years. Forrester Research analyst John Kindervag once compared it to an aircraft carrier: It may have a lot of firepower, but when it needs to change directions, it doesn't exactly turn on a dime.

However, according to Chris Young, Cisco's senior vice president for security and government, the networking giant's strategy and execution are coming about.

In this video, recorded at the 2013 RSA Conference, Young, now with a year on the job, offered a progress report on the status of Cisco's security product portfolio. He discussed the networking giant's next-generation firewall, how it combines application visibility and control capabilities, and the value proposition of recent Cisco Identity Services Engine updates.
