What to cut from an enterprise information security budget

What to cut from an enterprise information security budget

Date: Dec 13, 2012

According to Peter Kuper, partner at In-Q-Tel, most information security budgets are flat when – if the number and severity of information security threats are a barometer – they should be increasing. But the bigger issue is what enterprises are putting into their information security budgets that could be preventing them from improving their security posture. Is there an opportunity for CISOs to cut back on unnecessary security spending?

In this video interview, Kuper discusses the state of the information security market and the effects of the struggling economy on enterprise information security spending. He talks about the dangers of packaging the compliance budget with the information security budget and why regulatory compliance should have a budget of its own. Kuper also discusses the challenges related to information security staffing, both locally and internationally.
