Configuration and deployment of IPSec VPN security for 802.11 wireless LANs

About the White Paper:
This paper presents an overview of the current
802.11 security implementation and discusses the
potential exposure. The paper also presents a proposed
alternative security strategy for 802.11 wireless
LAN using Virtual Private Networking (VPN)
technologies. While it is clear that the standards
committees within the IEEE will in time address the shortcomings of the security being integrated into
fixed wireless networks, this fails to address the
immediate requirements of organizations using
802.11 wireless networks. This paper describes an
implementation overview for securing wireless
LANs with currently available VPN solutions.
