Quick Takes: RapidStream 500 secures remote, high-speed connections

RapidStream 500 available

RapidStream 500, centrally managed security software that secures remote offices and telecommuters using DSL or cable modems to access the Internet and corporate networks, is available, according to RapidStream. RapidStream 500 provides 1,000 firewall sessions and two VPN tunnels delivering 20 Mbps of firewall throughput and 20 Mbps of VPN/3 DES throughput and includes two 10/100 Ethernet ports. The RapidStream 500 is available now from RapidStream and its resellers for $695.

Sygate secures Alcatel VPN users

Sygate Technologies and Alcatel announce a deal to provide Alcatel's VPN users with Sygate Security Agent, software that detects and blocks known and unknown threats from entering a corporate network. The Sygate agent is part of the Sygate Secure Enterprise suite that offers central security management of VPN users. Alcatel's VPN Client is part of Alcatel's Secure VPN Solution.

Marshal launches US operations

Marshal Software, a product that manages and monitors employee e-mail content and Web browsing, announces the opening of its Atlanta-based U.S. headquarters. Marshal protects network and information, workplace liability issues and worker non-productivity associated with uncontrolled use of the Internet. Its products include MailMarshal, an e-mail monitor that screens for spam, viruses and denial-of-service attacks and checks for confidential data, defamation, profanity and other misuses; MailMarshal Secure, an add-on to MailMarshal that provides S/MIME and PKI encryption; and WebMarshal, a Web-browsing filter that controls employee access to non-business sites. Licenses for Marshal Software are priced based on the number of users.

Authentica secures CaseCentral financial transactions

Case Central, a provider of Web-based litigation extranets, has selected Authentica's PageRecall software to secure its DealCentral service for investment banking and financial institutions. PageRecall allows document owners to control what content may be viewed, printed, copied, saved locally or forwarded. PageRecall will secure CaseCentral users exchanging sensitive documents used in mergers, acquisitions, venture funding and IPOs. Owners will have the option of revoking access to documents wherever they are located. Those access and usage policies can be changed as well, regardless of where the documents are located.
