Quick Takes: Configuresoft module automates Windows patch management

Configuresoft adds security module to ECM

Windows NT/2000 configuration management company Configuresoft has added a new module, Security Update Manager, to its Enterprise Configuration Manager (ECM). Security Update Manager automates management of security patches in large Windows enterprises. It alerts administrators to new Microsoft security bulletins and assesses corporate networks to detect vulnerable servers and workstations and deploys patches with a single mouse click. ECM centralizes and automates monitoring, managing and auditing NT and 2000 hardware and software configurations deployed in large enterprise networks or Web server farms. ECM Security Update Manager is available at $25 per server and $5 per workstation.

Five join Camelot Partner Program

Camelot announced that ABLE Information Systems, Quatro Systems, REACT Network Services, Secure Network Group and Set Solutions have joined the security software developer's Partner Program, taking advantage of support, marketing and other incentives offered by Camelot. Camelot develops network management and security software. It's flagship software, Hark, is an automated access control product. Hark automatically creates, enforces and manages user access permissions and policies across an enterprise.

SCM, Logicon providing smart card readers to Army

SCM Microsystems and Logicon have joined forces to provide 50,000 smart card readers to the U.S. Army under the Department of Defense's Common Access Card Program. Logicon provides the smart cards and SCM the readers to be used by soldiers as identification for physical identification, building and network access. SCM will lend serial port, USB and PCMCIA readers to Logicon to secure desktops and laptops.

SmartTrust brings Chrysalis-ITS technology aboard

Chrysalis-ITS and SmartTrust announced a partnership targeting the European PKI market with software-managed, hardware-secured digital certificate products like PKI, Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) and smart cards. Chrysalis-ITS' hardware security modules, including Luna CA3, Luna Xpplus and Luna RA will be integrated with SmartTrust's Certificate Manager, Security Center and Servant OCSP. SmartTrust Certificate Manager enables corporations, organizations, and governments, to deploy and operate large Public Key Infrastructures (PKI). It covers production and management of digital identities on smart cards, soft tokens, and SIM cards, to support Internet and mobile Internet applications. The Chrysalis-ITS Luna CA3 HSM provides the highest level of security for protecting the critical root key used by certificate authorities for signing digital certificates.
