Sanctum announced a version of its AppScan product for developers using Microsoft Visual Studio .NET, leading off this edition of Quick Takes.

Sanctum announces AppScan Developer Edition

Sanctum Inc., recently announced a tool to help developers write secure code without cramping their style or creativity. AppScan Developer Edition (DE) 1.5 scans code written in Microsoft Visual Studio .NET for a host of vulnerabilities. AppScan DE automatically learns the specific logic and structure of an application and builds customized tests to detect potential security defects. It then warns the developer and suggests fixes. All of this is done before QA gets the code. The aim of the product is to catch defects earlier and to help developers learn how to write more secure code in the first-place. AppScan DE will be available in March 2003.
