Vulnerability management and AV scanning gets a lift, while Entrust completes its acquisition of AmikaNow

BigFix releases Mobile Security Manager
BigFix, an Emeryville, Calif.-based provider of vulnerability management solutions, released BigFix Mobile Security Manager, software designed to protect enterprise networks by ensuring that mobile endpoints are securely configured regardless of physical location or network connectivity. BigFix's real time agents provide deep visibility into the hardware, software and configuration of mobile endpoints and work continuously to maintain compliance with corporate policies and security updates for configuration, antivirus and patching. Blue Coat launches ProxyAV
Blue Coat Systems Inc. of Sunnyvale, Calif., has released ProxyAV, which it calls a high-performance Web antivirus appliance that scans Web traffic for viruses in real time. It works in concert with Blue Coat's ProxySG platform, which processes Web objects to determine which should be scanned for viruses. Web objects are then sent to the ProxyAV, where they are quickly scanned for viruses and sent back to the ProxySG to be cached, the company said, adding that the product is compatible with such antivirus engines as those from McAfee, Panda, Sophos and Trend Micro.

Trend Micro introduces Web security suite, corporate antivirus
Antivirus and content security vendor Trend Micro, based nationally in Cupertino, Calif., introduced its InterScan Web Security Suite v2.0, which combines antivirus, antiphishing, antispyware and optional URL filtering in a gateway product for securing Web traffic. Trend Micro InterScan Web Security Suite v2.0 is available for Microsoft NT with an English language interface. Linux and Solaris versions are due in Q3. Pricing begins at $16 per 25 users. Optional URL filtering module begins at $16 per user.

In separate news, Trend Micro announced OfficeScan Corporate Edition v6.5, which provides desktop antivirus for the enterprise under one central console. OfficeScan enables administrators to manage and monitor groups and departments' inbound and outbound traffic for suspicious activity and unauthorized access to the desktop. This version of OfficeScan also includes Cisco Trust Agent delivered via the Cisco Network Admission Control program to help enforce antivirus policies. OfficeScan Corporate Edition will be available in July for Windows NT, XP, Server 2000 and Server 2003.

Entrust completes AmikaNow acquisition
Identity and access management vendor Entrust, Inc., based out of Addision, Texas, announced its completion of the AmikaNow Corp. acquisition. The final terms of the agreement were not disclosed. AmikaNow brings its expertise in antispam, e-mail content and analysis to the Entrust portfolio, specifically Entrust Secure Messaging Solution. With AmikaNow's products Entrusts hopes to provide more comprehensive products tailored to help organizations meet regulatory and compliance requirements, according to the press statement.
