Vulnerability quiz: Question No. 9

Why is it important to run a vulnerability scan before and after applying a new patch?
C. To identify the baseline before and after a patch is applied.

When looking at products to purchase it is important to ensure that the chosen one integrates with the existing patch management practices. Many times after a patch is applied, new vulnerabilities are introduced into the environment. So systems scans should take place immediately before and after patches are applied to ensure that the patch resolved the targeted vulnerabilities and did not inadvertently introduce new ones.
